The Pay Off Podcast

Bonus episodes | Featuring a selection of our previous guests

It’s not often that you get to be in a room with successful individuals with a wealth of knowledge on an industry. So we took the liberty of picking the brains of the past guests we’ve had on the show and asked them:

  • What’s the silliest idea they’ve had?
  • What is a business trend that needs to die?
  • What motivates them to get out of bed in the morning?

The result is 3 bonus episodes filled with their hilarious, heartwarming and insightful answers. Here are some snippets from each of the 3 bonus episodes:

Laughing it off

When Roger Gregg came onto our podcast, we discovered how his knowledge of the hospitality space influenced the creation of his accounts payable app - Lightyear. But Roger shared that even though he previously had an idea of opening a Thai restaurant in Ireland, he didn’t have the best experience of naming things. Looking back it was a silly idea, but something he can definitely laugh about.

Confronting the “hustle”

The word “hustle” has been thrown around a lot in the last couple of years. People typically use it to express hard work, determination and resilience, but Shelley actually advises on the danger of over-using it. She feels that being inauthentic about how difficult it actually is is dangerous, and it needs to change.

It’s always about helping people

When she joined us on the podcast, Hayley shared how losing her then partner during her fourth year of physiotherapy had a profound effect on the direction of both her life and career. With the inheritance she received, she felt an overwhelming desire to do something good with it, and Halo Medical Devices was born. For Hayley, her “why” will always be about helping people.
