Product Designer (Mid-weight)

KeyPay is a cloud based payroll platform, with automation that eliminates the pain points associated with payroll. With over $21b of payments processed annually, we’re experiencing rapid growth in Australia, the UK, New Zealand and Singapore. We are on the hunt for an awesome designer to help support this growth and build out our design team.

At KeyPay, we don’t just talk about the cloud. We live and breathe it in everything we do. The KeyPay team is located all around the world. We use the latest technology to get stuff done: Slack, Trello, Google suite. What’s most important to us is finding the right person who gets the culture, can work autonomously, loves data and can translate it into insights and actions – and someone who can roll up their sleeves to try new things quickly.

Design @ KeyPay

Our goal is to create a seamless design and user experience for KeyPay customers through intuitive product design. As part of the design team, you’ll be working closely with product, development and marketing teams, responsible for creating this in-product experience to streamline payroll processing. We’re looking for a hybrid designer with a strong eye for UX and UI. An experienced hands-on product or UX/UI Designer, with experience working across web-based products and also iOS/Android. You'll be impacting the user experience of hundreds of thousands of people by capturing customer data and feedback from a range of sources and using it to design an intuitive and brilliant product, from navigation through to interface.

What you'll be doing

  • Shape the next generation of KeyPay products.
  • Work closely with the designers, PMs, engineers to make the process better and easier.

  • Work closely with product managers to deliver a seamless and user-friendly user experience.
  • Understand the vision and goals of the business and create milestones to achieve.

  • Perform a wide range of tasks depending on what’s needed to make the product and team successful.

  • Based in Sydney (preferred but not mandatory).
  • A design portfolio is mandatory (show us your best work).
  • If we like your portfolio we may ask you to do a small design challenge. Would you be up for the challenge?
  • Strong background and at least 5+ years of experience in designing for a SaaS product, related online software product or digital product.
  • Proficient and highly skilled with design tools like Figma (we use Figma but Sketch is acceptable), Illustrator and Adobe CS.
  • Understanding of the broad product design landscape and best practices.
  • Great iconography skills or experience working with icons
  • Experienced with building and working with design systems.
  • Understanding of neat and scalable designs.
  • Ability to create high-fidelity and low-fidelity wireframes and prototypes.
  • Knowledge of HTML/CSS/JS is a requirement.
  • Experience working on mobile iOS/Android designs.
  • Demonstrated ability to think at a high level about product strategy.
  • Ability to take actions and be reactive to problems, but also the ability to step back and see the big picture.
  • A proactive initiative that identifies problems and acts on opportunities to improve the product offering.
  • Ability to interpret briefs and produce high-quality creative solutions.
  • Stay up to date with the latest UX/UI design trends across all digital platforms.
  • Ability to adapt to a different way of working. Less corporate and more toward “Get things done”.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and owning the KeyPay design.
  • Ability to manage and contribute to multiple projects at a time and comfortable with switching context.
  • Good communication skills to explain and share your passion inside the team - ability to explain, plan and execute ideas.
